In my painting, colour and texture are the most important expressive means.
My work is characterized by its tendency to portray an abundance
of figures, blurred human shapes, indistinct bodies. The theme however is not plainly the figures but essentially my inner self, images of potent internal secret conflict. Through painting, I am seeking to capture the mysterious movement of existence with the outmost of spontaneity and transparency.
I have always been fascinated by ancient civilizations, primitive worlds, and in particular I was attracted to cave paintings. There’s undoubtedly a strong interest in archaeology permeating my entire achievement. I am constantly traveling back to the early sources of inspirations, such as the Minoan or Egyptian, attempting to explore, examine and eventually develop the primitive. The exterior aspect of my pictures is reminiscent of cave depictions and rock surfaces. It seems as though I am striving to unearth, bring to light a lost civilization, my own private world which ultimately adopts the form of antiquated shapes, human-like images, undamaged by time, unaffected by generations.
